Washington, D.C. (April 10, 2013) — Secretary of the Interior Nominee Sally Jewell has been successfully confirmed this evening by an 87-11 Senate vote. Below is a statement from Defenders of Wildlife President Jamie Rappaport Clark.

Sally Jewell’s experience and leadership shows that she has the strength to lead during this critical time for conservation in the United States, when many of the gains we have made for wildlife and public lands are now at risk. As Sally Jewell assumes the role of the nation's chief wildlife steward, we look forward to working with her to protect America's imperiled wildlife and spectacular landscapes."
